http - 403 Forbidden

If you are seeing the following http 403 Forbidden error it is probably because you do not have an index page in your public_html directory.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

In this particular case the error message is generated because our server will not allow people to access the root (that is what the / means) of your public_html directory and see all of your files - they must land on an index page and then navigate around your site from there.

As per your New Account Information email, the main file for your website homepage must be named index with a recognised file extension, for example index.htmlindex.htm or index.php.

403 Forbidden errors can be caused by a few different things. Especially if you are carrying out admin tasks to a dynamic site (such as WordPress) which could be blocked by our ModSecurity module - What is ModSecurity?

Please check the Error Logs in cPanel for specific information.
